ESRB sticks by ‘M’ rating on ‘Manhunt 2′ (AP)

AP - The board that assigns age ratings to video games will keep the “Mature” label on “Manhunt 2,” resisting calls to raise it after hackers defeated measures that blur some of the game’s violence.

Rockstar Vienna outraged at lack of Manhunt 2 credit

Rockstar Vienna has expressed disappointment and outrage regarding the game credits for Manhunt 2 which did not mention the respective studio which worked on the title from 2004 until the middle of 2006. The studio is now closed but the title did not make any reference over 50 staff that made a contribution to the title.

Nintendo indicates a TV program schedule channel for Wii is on the way

It would appear as if a TV program schedule channel is set to hit the Wii, which inevitably allows Wii owners to view the TV program schedule. The news comes from Nintendo\’s recent financial rsults briefing. The president of Nintendo commented that he wants the Wii to become a friend of the TV in the living room. This service will be available in Japan from Spring 2008.

Nintendo: Wii still has much room for improvement

In a rather massive questions and answers session with investors recently, Nintendo executives answered questions on a range of areas. Miyamoto was asked a question on the future of the Wii to which he responded there is still a lot of room for improvement and within 5 years or so, the Wii will be a much more comfortable machine to use suggesting that there is a good amount of life in the machine yet.

Mario Galaxy doesn’t sell as expected in Japan -just 130k on launch day

According to estimates, Mario Galaxy sold just 130,000 on its launch day in Japan. While this figure sounds pretty good, it is a pale shadow of the New Super Mario Bros which sold around 400,000 on its launch day.

DS leads the way in Japanese hardware sales

Media Create has released the latest weeklt console hardware sales figures for the region of Japan and they show that the DS is continuing to dominate although to a lesser extent experienced during its \’golden days\’. The DS sold 76,273 units compared to the PSPs 59,792. Eslewhere the Wii sold 27,502 units, the PS3 18,785 and the Xbox 360 3,718.

Wii’s lead over PS3 in Japan shrinking - Enterbain

Game magazine publisher Enterbain has revealed that the Wii outsold the Sony PS3 by just 2-1 in October, with its lead over Sony\’s next-generation platform shrinking for the fourth month in a row. Accrding to Enterbains\’ figures, the Wii sold 110,415 units until the end of October, compared to 47,183 units of the PS3.

Kmart VP Jonathan Magasnik has looked to clarify recent rumors that the firm had gone HD DVD exclusive by stating that such rumors are false and the company plans to support both the HD DVD and Blu-ray formats.

Popular Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu has conducted a final review on Assassin\’s Creed and has awarded it a super impressive score of 37/40 (results added up out of ten from four editors).

Rumor: New cut price compact PS2 coming early 2008

According to a UK trade publication, Sony will release a new compact PS2 system in the US at a price of $99 in the new year, which is a $30 reduction on its current selling price. The new version features a built in power supply, but as expected Sony has refused to comment on the respective report.

Hacker promises an even MORE uncensored version of Manhunt 2

Yet another hacker has stopped by the MaxConsole froums to post codes in order to uncensor the retail version of Manhunt 2 on the PS2 in conjunction with a cheat device, in his case the Action Replay. However, he leaves a message that an even MORE uncensored version will be coming soon, and we\’re guessing that would mean removing the blur and red filters. Read more here.

Square Enix announced Final Fantasy & FF2 to be released individually

Square Enix Ltd. the publisher of Square Enix interactive entertainment products in Europe and other PAL territories, today announces that FINAL FANTASY and FINAL FANTASY II will be released separately in the UK and across all PAL territories in early 2008 on the PSP.

Star Ocean limited edition PSP on the cards

Square Enix is to release a Star Ocean limited edition PSP that comes with a speciallly designed PSP system, a metallic pouch for storage and of course a copy of the actual game. The bundle is set to go on sale from December 27th in Japan.
