Nintendo has no plans to increase first party software development in North America, commenting that North American third party developers are more than capable of satisfying domestic tastes. Harrison went on to state that the actual decision about producing more software would come down to Satoru Iwata but he is not aware of any such plans in the US.

Speaking to The Street, research analyst Michael Comeau has commented that Super Mario Galaxy is a huge border-line failure for Nintendo when one considers that Halo 3 sold millions in its launch and not just 500,000. He questions if Mario Galaxy isn\’t the dominant game than what is/will be? And that the low software sales could be a reflection of the casual gaming audience. AM3 unveiled DSvision today, which is fully licensed by Nintendo. It is a download service that promises to bring comics, books, magazines, anime, movies, and television programs to the Japanese DS. The service downloads content to special microSD flash cards, which are then plugged into the DS via a special adapter cartridge. The service should be available in Japan in March and content is expected to go for 1,000 yen( about $10 US). It is hoped the service will expand to other territories.
