According to an Indian gaming site, MS executives recently experienced a brief demo of MGS 4 and came back really impressed. The core gameplay mechanics have reportedly been finalized but the studio is yet to decide whether the game will be in the third or first person perspective. So the age-old rumor just will never die of MGS 4 appearing on the Xbox 360.

Part of the information revealed is that the game is set to feature 4 difficulty levels, level 2 is suggested for those who cleared the first game, level 3 is for those who are skilled and are hardcore fans while level 4 is obviously made to provide extreme difficulty. Game Politics also has a discussion of Thompson’s main points. From Wired: “Jim Blank, the head of the modeling and simulation division of the U.S. Joint Forces Command, says that commercial games don’t meet the demand of the military, adding, ‘first-person shooter games really don’t apply in this environment.’ Blank’s point is that game-like simulations are a valuable tool for training soldiers in situations that would be too expensive to simulate in reality.”.
