God of War dev angered by sensationalism, issues a response

A news article recently surfaced in which God of War developer David Jaffe \’appeared\’ to take a jab at Miyamoto by stating \”I\’ve been trying to figure out why the f*** go karts shoot banana peels.\” Jaffe has posted up a mini video diary in which he states he doesn\’t think he is a better developer than Miyamoto and he just swears a lot because that\’s the environment he\’s been brought up in.

Nintendo: While DS flash cards do cause concern, they have not reached mass market

A Nintendo spokesperson has issued a response to the quote that 90 percent of DS owners play pirate games with the R4 cartridge. Nintendo stated that while the R4 and other devices cause concern, they have not reached the mass market. Nintendo stated they will continue to be aggressive in taking action to protect its game developers.

New NES emulator for DS puts a NES console on the back of your DS

A company has created a NES clone system which attaches to the DS and allows you to play Japanese NES cartridges while using the DS as a controller and playing back the games on a mini TV screen. The key flaw of the product is that it doesn\’t actually use the DS hardware to run the game. So esssentially, it\’s like strapping a working NES on the back of your DS and unlike flash cards which use emulation, the hardware itself is actually running the games.

Codemasters: It will be a ten year life cycle, don’t dismiss PS3

The CEO of Codemasters has relayed ot the gaming media that he truly believes the console industry will be a ten year life cycle and thinks that this is something that is overlooked when people dismiss certain hardware platforms (PS3). He went on to say Sony is showing signs of ramping up and various ingredients are starting to merge and they will have serious momentum over the coming years.

Major anime company to release in Blu-ray

ADV films has announced that it is to begin releasing its newest titles in Blu-ray. ADVfilms is the largest anime company in North America and they plan to have some blu-ray titles out as early as this spring.

Metal Gear Solid: Essential Collection listed by GameStop US

We previously reported on how an Asian games importer listed the Metal Gear Solid: Essential Collection, but now it definitely looks as if it is headed to the rest of the world as GameStop online is listing it at $29.99 for a release on 3/18/08. It contains Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance and Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence.

MS: Don’t email Bill Gates with your 360 problems

Microsoft have said that contacting Bill Gates or other Microsoft executives with your customer services issues is not a good idea. They recommend you stick to the Xbox customer service team. The statement comes after someone who contacted the consumerist claimed that emailing Bill Gates about his faulty 360 led to a speedy replacement.

Gears of War 2 confirmed?

It seems inevitable that Gears of War 2 is coming, but now Gamepro magazine claims to have some kind of exclusive and proof that it is indeed. As you will see from the magazine cover they have a \’special Xbox 360 report\’ which supposedly covers Gears of War 2.

Halo 3 DLC: Purple Reign map delayed, Moonlight Sonata instead

In this weeks Bungie Update it was revealed that the upcoming multiplayer map \”Purple Reign\”, which was meant to be coming in Halo 3\’s Spring DLC, is not ready yet. However they say it’s being replaced by something potentially much more exciting, the “Moonlight Sonata” map. Bungie promises they will list specific details about the upcoming Halo 3 title update which should include a new and improved melee system.

Linux Has Better Windows Compatibility Than Vista

Several readers have written to tell us about one users rant in which he tells the story of being so frustrated with gaming on Windows Vista that he tried comparing gaming on Vista to that on Linux using Wine, with surprising results. “This post is clearly a bit biased. What shocked me though was how easy it was to find games that didn’t run under Vista but did in Linux by using Wine or DOSBox. I’m not a huge gamer, so I don’t have a huge collection of games to try out, but even still with just a few hours of frustrating work, I have been able to show that not only is Linux a reasonable alternative to Vista for gaming (XP is still king though), but also that Linux handles application failures more gracefully than Vista. Every game but Blackthorne crashed my Vista box, this didn’t happen a single time under Linux.”.
