Super Smash Bros. Brawl Review

It’s hard to believe, but it’s been nine years since the original Super Smash Bros. brought some of the most iconic Nintendo characters together for frantic battles, and roughly seven years since its sequel Super Smash Bros. Melee was released. Perhaps even harder still to believe–and a testament to the series’ popularity and longevity–is that these games are still being played religiously to this day. But no matter whether you’re a diehard Smash Bros. fanatic or a neophyte brawler, you’ll be pleased to know that Super Smash Bros. Brawl includes a plethora of impressive characters, features, and game modes, and is more accessible and fun than ever before.

For the uninitiated, Smash Bros. is a multiplayer-centric series of fast-paced 2D fighting games that features a cast of characters from all over the Nintendo universe. If you’ve ever found yourself arguing with a friend about whether or not Mario could beat Link in a one-on-one match, Brawl is the game that will let you settle the issue once and for all (the answer of course is that Kirby would eat them both). No Wii Monster Hunter 3 this year

Capcom\’s Christian Svensson has revealed that Monster Hunter won\’t be ready for the Wii this year. When asked for a release date for the game Christian said \”I\’m not saying when…but 2008 it isn\’t\” as a game \”of this magnitude requires years of development.\”

ThreeSpeech getting ready to reveal Motorstorm 2 info?

ThreeSpeech has posted up a count down timer on its site with the words \”A NEW BREED OF WARRIOR WILL BE BORN…\”. These words are also said in the introduction of the original Motorstorm, so it is believed we may see a video of Motorstorm 2 in action and maybe some info about the game.

MS: HD DVD may be dead, but our focus has always been Live Marketplace

According to reports, while MS has played a significant role in building up the high definition market, they are not really that concerned about how that will play out in the Xbox 360 market. Aaron Greenberg has told a website that the demise of HD DVD does not at all effect the console\’s position as an entertainment system. He went on to comment that just a small fraction actually bought the HD DVD attachment and the main HD focus has always been the Live Video Marketplace.

MS: Mass Effect & Halo 3 proves Xbox 360 competes with PS3’s game capacity

Questions have been asked whether the Xbox 360 can compete with the PS3 in terms of game capacity, but Microsoft\’s Aaron Greenberg has stated that MS\’s DVD engineering has calmed tht issue. He pointed to the likes of Mass Effect and Halo 3 as proof that they can compete with the capacity that Blu-ray offers.

Donkey Kong and Me

MBCook sends us to the blog of one Landon Dyer, who posted an entry the other day entitled Donkey Kong and Me. It describes how he was offered at job at Atari after writing a Centipede clone and ended up programming Donkey Kong for the Atari 800. It’s full of detail that will be fascinating to anyone who ever programmed assembly language that had to fit into 16K, as well as portents of what was to come at Atari. “My first officemate didn’t know how to set up his computer. He didn’t know anything, it appeared. He’d been hired to work on Dig Dug, and he was completely at sea. I had to teach him a lot, including how to program in assembly, how the Atari hardware worked, how to download stuff, how to debug. It was pretty bad.”.

Mother shocked after kids see nude pics on Xbox Live

A mother has been shocked after finding out her two children were sent nude pictures on Xbox Live. The mother grabbed the controller from her son and the called Microsoft who said there was nothing they could do. The mother has since banned them from using Xbox Live to protect them from becoming prey to online predators. She says while Microsoft has measures to deal with offensive players online, it is too late as the damage has already been done. Michigan State Police have said \”this disturbing crime should be a wake up call for parents.\”
