The German Financial Times has ran a story today that says Microsoft is to officially announce tomorrow that they are to lower the price of the Xbox 360 in Europe. They say the Xbox 360 Arcade will be cut from 280 Euro to 199 Euros (lower than the cost of a Wii) and the Xbox 360 Pro will be cut from 349 Euro to 299 Euro. Microsoft are apparently still discussing whether they should reduce the price of the Xbox 360 elite.

Reports have emerged today revealing that some owners of U.S. copies of Super Smash Bros. Brawl, which was released today, are having the same disc read error problems that plagued the Japanese version. Nintendo of America say it\’s down to dirty lasers and recommend you send it to them to repair. They advise \”Nintendo has specialized cleaning equipment that can resolve this problem. (Please do NOT attempt to clean the lens yourself, as you may damage the system.)\”

A user on the instructables has made a guide on how to create a customized Super Mario Bros theme Wii. The console features Mario popping out of the console, additional USB ports, an LED illuminated mushroom that changes colors to indicate system status and a Wii-mote charger on the side of the console.

A WIP backup launcher for use with a PS3 development unit has been released, it allows PS3 games to be booted from the HD-DVD, copy original games from DVD/BD-ROM to HDD and patch the executable on some games to run from HDD. Of course this will only work on a development unit and not a retail PS3 console. Read more here.

The PSP has had some had some positive hardware sales figures following the release of the PSP-2000, but its games fail to make it to the top of software sales charts. But is piracy to blame? A NeoGAF member went ot a torrents site and compiled a list of torrent files for some recent big games that were released on the PSP. A Metal Gear Solid - Portable Ops torrent file had been downloaded 231,054, Burnout Dominator - 269,486 and Ratchet & Clank - Size Matters - 197,113.

Janneman wanted to have a nice heat pipe cooler like the one that people who had after sending in their Xbox 360\’s for repair. For this modification, he used two heat pipes and the brackets from a Zalman heatpipe HDD cooler. You can check out all the instructions and the end result here.
