U.S. Wii shortage down to weak dollar, demand subsiding in Europe
March 30, 2008Games industry analyst, Michael Pachter, has said the weak dollar is the reason for the Wii shortage in the U.S. Pachter believes that Nintendo have been sending more Wii consoles to Europe where they can make a bigger profit from those countries with stronger currencies. However, Pachter believes that demand is now subsiding to normal levels and that the surplus consoles will be sent to the U.S. Pachter concluded that he believes that it should be easy to pick up a Wii in the U.S. later this year.

Hudson’s WiiWare Karakoe title detailed
March 30, 2008Hudson has revealed details for its upcoming WiiWare title currently known as Karaoke Joysound. Hudson hope to have 20,000 songs available at the start of service for the karaoke title and will add 1,000 every month. Hudson has plans for a subscription service rather than you having to pay per song and it is assumed this will let you download as much as you like over a set time. The title is expected to be released in Japan this Summer.

Rumor: Green, red & Ice Blue DS for Europe in May

Blu-ray catching up on standard DVD’s
March 30, 2008According to data from Nielsen VideoScan First Alert, Blu-ray versions of movies are starting to make up a bigger percentage of sales. Research analyst, Tom Adams, believes consumers have increased confidence to purchase Blu0ray titles and that Blu-ray disc sales will continue to grow thanks to \”increasing penetration of Blu-ray hardware, and sales of Sony’s Blu-ray-driven PlayStation 3.\”

Firware V2.20 screws up MP4 streaming?
March 30, 2008According to internet reports, PS3 firmware update V2.20, has been causing some problems for users. The update has apparently made the streaming of MP4 stutters making them unplayable, MPEG2s streaming at low frame rate and has made it difficult to skip unwanted content.

PSW magazine: exclusive GTA IV DLC for PS3 & Home inclusion
March 30, 2008According to rumors in the latest issue of PSW magazine, the PS3 will likely be getting exclusive GTA IV content. They also say that GTA IV will tie in with Playstation Home and that exclusive Home unlockables will be made available. They say that a GTA IV home space will come packed with Rockstar-themes T-shirts, caps and other goods that will let you customize your avatar. They also say you will be able to invite friends over to chat in Home before you go on a co-op mission.

Attorney demands Bill Gates testifies in Xbox house fire case
March 30, 2008The lawyer representing the family of a teenage girl that was badly burnt in a house fire that they say was caused by a faulty Xbox has threatened to have Bill Gates testify about the safety of Microsoft\’s offshore manufacturing practices, unless MS settle for $25 million. Microsft is denying responsibility for the fire.
