Star Soldier R coming to North America

Hudson confirmed today that space blaster \’Star Soldier R\’, which was a WiiWare launch title in Japan, is coming will also be made available for North America. Hudson have not announced a release date but the WiiWare service is set to launch in North America on May 12.

3 NES beat ‘em ups coming to Virtual Console

Nintendo have revealed that it will be releasing 3 NES beat \’em ups to the Virtual Console. Coming next week is \’River City Ransom\’, Double Dragon will be released the week after and then \’Renegade\’ the week after that.

Nintendo: No new DS to be shown at E3

Nintendo Japan\’s head of PR has denied rumors that came from Enterbrain president Hirokazu Hamamura stating that a new DS may be shown at E3. \”We cannot comment on the specifics of what will be announced at E3, but at the very least there won\’t be anything like what Mr. Hamamura suggested, so would like to clearly deny this. We\’re having a hard time understanding what kind of evidence [Mr. Hamamura] had for saying this.\” said Nintendo Japan\’s head of PR.

Konami delete ID of non-Japanese MGO beta registrants

Those who that managed to get a Metal Gear Online beta code from Konami\’s Japanese site have had their KONAMI ID\’s deleted. Konami have been emailing registrants to let them know and recommending that they obtain a KONAMI ID for the region they live in provided that the public beta test is open to them. (Thanks Miguel!)

Drive found to allow PS3 games to be dumped directly to PC

According to reports, the $150 Lite-On DH-401S can read Blu-ray discs which allow a game to be dumped directly to PC instead of using Linux/SAK.

Amazon UK inform customers of MGS 4 week long delay

According to reports, amazon.co.uk has informed some of its customers who pre-ordered MGS 4 that the game will \”not be supplied to Amazon\” until June 19th (7 days after the official release date). It is unclear if other retailers or regions have been affected.

Goverment crackdown against banned God Of War in UAE

The Sharjah municipality (one of the emirates of the the United Arab Emirates) is cracking down on the banned video game God of War. Residents say the game contains material offensive to religion, values and social norms. \”I knew that it was banned, but many of my friends were able to buy pirated copies from Dh5 to Dh10. I was shocked to see how much it contradicted Islamic values,\” said a UAE national.

BET shows for LIVE, offering a free IRON RING episode

BET Networks today announced that it will add a broad selection of full-length BET television shows for download on Xbox LIVE. Effective immediately, a growing catalog of episodes from BET\’s top-rated programming will be available for download from Xbox LIVE, including, but not limited to, COLLEGE HILL 4, AMERICAN GANGSTER and COMIC VIEW, with IRON RING featuring a free download of the premiere episode to consumers for one full week.

Original Soulcalibur coming exclusively to XBLA

Namco Bandai have announced that they will be bringing the original Soulcalibur exclusively to XBLA later this year. Namco revealed the game will feature every character and game mode from the original, plus online leaderboards, and local multiplier matches.
