Reuters - Sony Corp’s game unit said on Tuesday it was delaying the launch of its “Home” 3D virtual online community service for the PlayStation 3 game console to autumn of this year, the second such delay.

Analyst criticizes advertising for Wii games

Analyst Michael Pachter believes the marketing of Nintendo Wii games is not reaching a broad enough audience and focuses too much on the hardcore gamer. \”Wii Fit is just not aimed at hardcore gamers … It\’s definitely aimed at the Oprah crowd. I bet they sell a million units a week for every pound that Oprah says she lost on it.\” said Pachter.

Publishers interested in Conduit - the Wii game aimed to look like a 360 game

High Voltage Software recently unveiled a futuristic first-person shooter designed from the ground up called Conduit for Wii. The game uses an advanced 3D engine to make the most of the Wii\’s hardware, however the game is badly in need of a publisher if it is ever to get past the demo stage. Since its unveiling, many publishers have been in touch with the company and the first footage of Conduit in action will be available in the near future, possibly within the next 2 weeks. High Voltage Software also have two unannounced games in the works that have impressed.

New Crystal Chronicles Japan DLC: Dungeons and bikinis

A 300 Wii Point dungeon pack that includes 11 dungeons is now available for WiiWare title Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles in Japan. Once the dungeons are cleared users will have access to weapon shops, parks, pubs, and other buildings. Also Square Enix will soon be release some more DLC including items of clothing for 100 points (such as a bikini for Chime).

Mario to hail cabs for New Yorkers

Nintendo have announced that they will be sending Mario to New York to help NYC residents hail taxi cabs to celebrate the launch of Mario Kart in America. Mario will be at the Sheraton Hotel (811 7th Ave., between 52nd and 53rd streets.) on Thursday, April 24; 8-10 a.m. and 12-2 p.m., so if you want a free cab ride make sure you\’re there!

Large Rumor: Street Fighter IV coming to Wii

According to a Japanese games magazine, Street Fighter IV will be coming to Wii. Its not clear where the magazine is getting its information however Capcom producer Yoshinori Ono recently said that it was potentially possible to bring the game to the Wii. \”Street Fighter IV, as it stands now, would be well-suited for the higher-level platforms. But the game doesn\’t have to have these visuals in order to be fun, We could go, potentially, to the Wii. We could make it on Game Boy, for all we know right now.\”

Playstation Home delayed, Open beta to start this fall

Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. (SCEI) announced today that it will expand the Closed Beta testing for PLAYSTATION Home in Summer 2008, inviting a further number of registrants from the PS3 users. Following completion of the Expanded Closed Beta test, the PLAYSTATION Home Open Beta service will commence in Fall 2008. \”We understand that we are asking PS3 and prospective PS3 users to wait a bit longer, but we have come to the conclusion that we need more time to refine the service to ensure a more focused gaming entertainment experience than what it is today,\” said Kazuo Hirai.

SCEA president: PS3’s first year a baptism of fire

SCEA president Jack Tretton has said that the launch of the PS3 was one of the hardest tasks he\’s encountered in his career. “There was a lot of concern about the technology promise of the PS3 as well as the price point. Consumers questioned whether Sony would be able to deliver on that promise. The first year was certainly a baptism of fire.\” said Tretton.

BBFC rates MGS4 15 for UK, provides spoilers

The BBFC has given Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots a 15 rating for the UK and provided a few details about the game. “During battles enemy soldiers die with small puffs of blood. The weaponry includes petrol bombs, however there is no detailed portrayal of injuries. During cut scenes slightly more detailed violence is portrayed, such as enemy creatures spearing friendly soldiers and one protracted fist fight.” said the BBFC. Improved Konami ID site now up
