NewsFactor - The launch of Sony’s Home 3D online community for the PlayStation 3 is being delayed again, this time until autumn. Last year, Home was also pushed back, with a now-postponed launch set for early in 2008. As with last year’s delay, Sony executives said the reason is to improve the quality of service.

In a recent interview, Bioware\’s Ray Muzyka (CEO & GM) and Greg Zeschuk (President & GM) were recently asked if narrative or storytelling is really the future of gaming and driving the industry forward, then doesn\’t that conflict with Nintendo\’s approach because most of their games are very casual.\” Zeschuk replied saying \”…those kinds of experiences are much more like a toy experience. They\’re playing, together or not, but you\’re not \’gaming\’ anymore. What\’s different than you actually playing tennis?\” Muzyaka disagreed saying that Wii games are gaming but are \”more toy-like\” and the narrative \”is between the players outside the game and kind of fulfills the same things games do.\”

U.S. WiiWare releases to follow VC model, download DS games via Nintendo Channel

Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime has recently been talking about the details of the U.S. launch of WiiWare. Reggie says that in the US \”WiiWare releases would likely follow the Virtual Console model.\” Also a Nintendo channel will be launched in the U.S. alongside WiiWare that will allow you to download DS games and demos (for the DS) and will also show information about games including user reviews.

N. America gets 40 percent of Wii consoles manufactured every month

Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime has said that \”North America gets about 40 percent of the 1.8 million Wii consoles Nintendo manufactures every month.\” In addition to this Reggie says that on average it only takes one hour for a Wii to get purchased once it gets on store shelves.

Is the PS3 a ‘Crutch to the Blu-ray Market’ ?

According to an ABI Research study, movie studios may be left disappointed even though the format war is over. ABI say the state of the Blu-ray player market is not all that encouraging as in 2008 about 85 percent of the Blu-ray players in the market will be found in PS3s. ABI say that if people are only buying the PS3 for games, there will only be a very little Blu-ray player installed base. “The studios better hope that people are playing movies on their PlayStations,\” said ABI Research analyst Steve Wilson. European members have recently been venting their frustration at the poor level of service they have been receiving from SCEE and have been asking for a service equal to that provided by SCEA. The issue has also been brought up by the member on the US Playstation Blog who asked yesterday if the US blog could global. Jeff Rubenstein, Social Media Manager, replied saying \”We know that there are a lot of readers coming here from beyond North America (notably the UK, Oz, Germany, and more). We’re in the process of working out how to make sure your needs are addressed. We hear what you’re saying.\”

Rockstar: next GTA IV might not fit on Xbox 360 disc

Rockstar co-founder Sam Houser has said that they might have a problem fitting the next Grand Theft Auto title onto a Xbox 360 disc. \”One of the problems with the 360, and it affects games like Grand Theft Auto if you think about how much content we put in the actual machine, is the fact that they don\’t have a significantly larger storage medium than the previous systems. It\’s a slightly bigger DVD disc\” said Houser.

An internet wareze group have leaked the Xbox 360 version of GTA IV on the web, they warn not to go online with it as its the PAL version and weighs in at 68×100MB. Please do not mention specific release groups or where to get the leak.
