Nintendo maximizing profit by sending more Wii Fit units to Europe

The Los Angeles Times has an article on Wii Fit shortages and the fact that people are getting plenty of exercise just trying to find someone who has it in stock. Wedbush Morgan Securities analysts, Michael Pachter, estimates that Nintendo shipped just 500,000 units of Wii Fit to the North America and around 2 million units to Europe. \”The shortage demonstrates one consequence of the weak dollar. We\’re seeing companies ignore their largest market simply because they can make a greater profit elsewhere,\” Pachter said. \”They know that Americans will be just as fat a few months from now\” when Nintendo will have more units available, he added.

2D game based on Portal now avilable for download

The first version of StillAliveDS is now available for download. StillAliveDS is a puzzle game inspired by Portal: The Flash Version which is a 2D renewal of Portal, developed by Valve Corporation.

80GB PS3 Motorstorm bundle making way for MGS 4 bundle

Sony has confirmed that they have stopped supplying the 80GB PS3 Motorstorm bundle. Sony are presumably making way for the new 80GB MGS 4 bundle that includes a DualShock 3 controller.

Gears of War re-issue officially announced

The Gears of War re-issue frst spotted on GameStop has been officially announced. On June 4th, \”Gears of War\” will be offered at the new estimated retail price of $39.99 (Xbox 360) and $29.99 (Games for Windows) throughout the U.S. and Canada. In addition to a new price tag, an updated two-disc retail version of \”Gears of War\” (Xbox 360) will arrive in the U.S. and Canada beginning June 24. The two-disc version includes previously released multiplayer map packs, the Annex game mode, and the ability to earn up to eight additional multiplayer Achievements worth 250 Gamerscore.

Sony unveil garden simulator called Shikitei with custom soundtrack support

Sony Japan\’s development lab today unveiled a downloadable garden simulator called Shikitei which is being unofficially called \”Four Season Garden.\” You will have to take the seasons into account when creating your garden and you will will be able to take a stroll in your garden listening to music stored on your PS3 in the background. The simulator is set to release on June 26 for 1,500 yen and item packs for the game are yet to be announced.

Konami asking reviewers to keep quiet about cut scene length & installation time?

Konami have apparently told two gaming media sources, who wish to remain anonymous, not to reveal details about the length of cut-scenes or the size of the mandatory install in MGS 4. Some reviewers have ignored the request and written about them anyway.

In-game XMB videos and trophy screens

Maxconsole forum member Medran has kindly uploaded some mobile phone videos of the in-game XMB in action. There is one showing the in-game XMB being used from a game title screen and one showing it being used during gameplay. He has also uploaded some pictures of trophies for us to look at. MGS4 Gun Metal Gray PS3 is not ‘just a paint job’, there are less than 10k too

The admin over at the Konami forums has decided to clarify a few things about the MGS4 Limited Edition PS3. The bundle is extremely limited, with \”less than 10k (its actually a bit less than that, even)\” being made available. Also, it is not just a paint job it is made from a \”different material, which has more of a matte finish and feel as opposed to the standard glossy one.\” The DualShock3 controller which comes with it is also Gun Metal Gray like the console.

PS3 Alone in the Dark delayed due to poor frame rate and other performance issues

The developer for Alone in the Dark, Eden Games, has said that the PS3 version does not have a release date because it is not performing as well the Xbox 360 version. \”The thing is it\’s not performing as well on PS3 as we hope it is in terms of frame rate and all that. We didn\’t want it to come out and have less of an experience for the PS3 gamer\” said a rep. Eden Games insist that the PS3 version will have the same content as the Xbox 360 version.

PSP tops Japanese hardware chart again, Xbox 360 nearly sells 2K!

Media Create has released the Japaneses hardware sales figures for the week ending May 25. The PSP has topped the chart again, beating the Wii by over 15,000 units. 1. PSP - 64,449, 2. WII - 49,047, 3. NDS - 37,404, 4. PS3 - 9,071, 5. PS2 - 7,189, 360 - 1,947.

External PSP Dualshock controller mod

Blizzrad of AcidMods has managed to connect a DualShock controller through a 25 pin connector mounted in the right side of the PSP. The DualShock can control all of the PSP buttons (except for the volume and backilght) and can turn the PSP on and off. Check the forums for a video of it in action.
