NewsFactor - Since its release on April 29, global sales of the Grand Theft Auto ‘GTA IV’ video game from Take-Two Interactive Software (Nasdaq: TTWO) have surpassed six million units, with an estimated retail value of more than $500 million in the first week. Over the first day alone, GTA IV sales were approximately 3.6 million units with a retail value of $310 million worldwide.

EA Sports president, Peter Moore, has said that they are working on a fitness game for Wii that uses the balance board. Moore says the game will be more of a \”western\” workout and will actually get people moving and starting to sweat.

The British press seems somewhat excited by the news that Prince William was challenged to a Wii tennis game on an official engagement. The Prince beat an 18 year old who admitted he was nervous and joked that he had been \”stitched up\”. The Prince was visiting the Valleys Kids Project at the Pen Dinas Flats, in Dinas in the Rhondda Valleys.

Sierra Entertainment today announced the development of third-person action-adventure game The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, a video game based on one of Summer 2008\’s most highly anticipated movies from Universal Pictures. The game, which will mirror the fast-paced action and adventure depicted in the film, is being developed by Eurocom Studios for the Wii/PS2 and by A2M for Nintendo DS. Sierra say the game will be available from UK retailers on 8th August, 2008.

Speaking to the Official Nintendo Magazine, EA Canada have said that FaceBreaker on the Wii is not a port and has been built from scratch. They also say that what the Wii version lacks in graphics, \”it more than makes up for by delivering a FaceBreakin\’ good time for you and your friends that you can only get on the Wii.\”
