Nintendo maximizing profit by sending more Wii Fit units to Europe

May 31, 2008

The Los Angeles Times has an article on Wii Fit shortages and the fact that people are getting plenty of exercise just trying to find someone who has it in stock. Wedbush Morgan Securities analysts, Michael Pachter, estimates that Nintendo shipped just 500,000 units of Wii Fit to the North America and around 2 million units to Europe. \”The shortage demonstrates one consequence of the weak dollar. We\’re seeing companies ignore their largest market simply because they can make a greater profit elsewhere,\” Pachter said. \”They know that Americans will be just as fat a few months from now\” when Nintendo will have more units available, he added.
